Emanuel is located in Matiguas, a city and of about 41,000 people in the
mountains of Matagalpa. Many
people live in more rural parts and some students will walk 2 hours just
to get to school. The
economic status is very poor with people primarily making a living from
agriculture or animals.
The school started with 4 teachers and four grades which has now
extended to include pre-school and up to 6th grade.
At first the classrooms were made of wood and in bad condition.
Through the LACC program, they have been able to build nice
classrooms for the school.
The goal of the school is to reach children and the parents through the
children because many students and parents are not Christians.
A dream for the school is to be able to provide education through
high school.
